My experience in this area:

I have been involved with discussions with both local cable companies as well as Bell Atlantic for the purpose of pricing and configuring the wide area connectivity needed by our school district. We have just installed those links and we are anxious to share with others some of the things that we have learned while the project unfolded.

What I hope to learn:

I hope to learn how to minimize our district's expenditures while meeting its needs for wide area connectivity. I would also like to learn how to design these networks in a modular fashion so that networks can be designed to start small a grow as needed so that resources are not wasted and so that initial designs don't need to be scrapped and re- placed.
