Adding Computers to the School LAN - Policy

The CK:P LAN design allows for the easy expansion of the existing network. Its design also allows you to add new computers. Adding a new computer - PC or Mac - requires the following items and information:

• A computer with an ethernet card.
• Appropriate software such as ethernet drivers, TCP/IP stack, operating system and Internet clients.
• Network information including an IP address for the computer.
• 2 cables - one from the computer to the wall drop and one from the concentrator to the wiring hub.

It's been shown that it takes around 1 hour to add a new computer to the network. In many cases it will take considerably less time.
