Sixteenth St. Bridge in Pgh. Opened to Traffic

From Engineering News-Record, 25 January 1923.

Virtual completion of the new Sixteenth St. bridge across the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh was indicated on Jan. 1 when the footwalks across the bridge were opened to pedestrian traffic and [the] private ferry which had operated at the crossing since the old structure burned in 1918 was discontinued. Pavement is yet to be laid on the buckleplate floor of the roadway, which work is not likely to be completed until summer.
The bridge comprises three steel arch-truss spans of the braced-rib type with tie in the plane of the floor. The spans are 229, 437 and 229 ft. long.
