Pennsylvania Department. Vertical Files.
War Activities. World War II.
A Guide to Subject Headings.

The Pennsylvania Department has archived a collection of newspaper clippings and other assorted materials related to World War II Activities in the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania area. Please see: "World War II. Records" by Rose Demorest, March 1945 for background information on this resource.
A list of these Subject Headings is provided here online.
Please note that, in some instances, due to their relevance in several of the online interviews, a number of these Subject Headings are linked to actual citations of the contents of the files. (When practicable, full text, as well as simple citations, has been provided.)
While some of these materials may be too brittle to use, there is much that can be used as an informal index to the newspapers and to the events of the time. These materials are kept in closed stacks and thus must be requested from the Department's librarians by those doing research.
