Trudy Schafer

Trudy Schafer has been Program Director of the League of Women Voters of California and the LWVC Education Fund since 1997. A League member since 1978, she served on local and state League boards of directors before becoming the California League's staff lobbyist in 1992. As Program Director, she works on a broad spectrum of projects both in voter service/citizen education and in advocacy. In 2001 she was a member of the Speaker's Commission on the California Initiative Process.

Ms. Schafer received a B.A. from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry at the University of Chicago and is co-author of a number of research articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings. She has been active in PTA boards, booster organizations, and school site councils.
