Welcome to the start of the second week of the National Dialogue
on Public Involvement in EPA Decisions. Today's topic deals
with Collaborative Processes - how the EPA and other governmental
agencies make decisions using stakeholder negotations, mediation,
regulatory negotiations, Federal Advisory Committee Act
proceedings and other comparable processes.
Specific areas on which you might want to focus include:
* Collaborative processes-how they work and what works
* Decisions suited to collaborative efforts
* Collaborative processes at the national, regional and local levels
* Collaboration and small businesses or small communities
Today's hosts are from the Alternative Dispute Resolution Law
Office/Conflict Prevention and Resolution Center. Our panelists
are Greg Bourne, James Creighton, Deborah Dalton, Marcia
Kinter and Tim Sherer.
For more detail on today's topic, hosts and panelists, please
consult the agenda:

The first week of the Dialogue involved over 1,000 registered
participants. There were close to 800 messages posted from
more than 250 different people. Please continue your
thoughtful and enthusiastic participation. And tell your
friends and colleagues about this event!
Please keep in mind that this Dialogue is not part of the formal
comment process on EPA's December 28, 2000 draft Public Involvement
Policy. Should you wish to submit formal comments on the policy,
you may send them to the EPA at
stakeholders@epa.gov
We hope that your participation in the Dialogue will be useful in
helping you to provide more informed and focused formal comments
on the policy.
