  • X-topic: Collaboration

In my view, any environmental policy issue with broad implications to multiple stakeholders is a candiate for a collaborative process. If political gridlock has frustrated efforts to reach a solution or adequately address diverse viewpoints, a well conceived and skillfully implemented collaborative processes may offer the most effective and efficient solution.

Success often hinges, however, on involvement and support from 1) the top leaders of sponsoring agencies, and 2) representatives of all major "voices" with a stake in the outcomes. Without "buy-in" at these levels, undertaking a collaborative process may prove futile.
